Programme context

The HELIOS+ programme aims to support the integration of third country nationals, beneficiaries of International Protection and beneficiaries of Temporary Protection in Greece, through a holistic approach that integrates their access to education, the labour market and vocational training and is implemented in the framework of the National Strategy for Social Integration of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum.

The programme will be implemented in the Region of Thessaly, by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with the contribution of INTERSOS Hellas and the Municipality of Larissa. In particular, HELIOS+ will include actions such as:

  • Strengthening and facilitating access to the labour market through job counselling
  • Strengthening the ability of the beneficiaries to live independently through the learning of the Greek language.
  • Supporting beneficiaries during the stages of the integration process and promoting their interaction with local communities and their autonomous access to social and public services.
  • Strengthening independent living through the provision of housing support.
  • Raising awareness among host communities and stakeholders for the social and labour integration of beneficiaries.

 

Scope of Work:

The Social Inclusion Officer will actively participate in the planning and implementation of all Helios+ actions in Thessaly. The role includes the responsibility for the overall coordination of the project activities between INTERSOS Hellas, the Municipality of Larissa and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), ensuring the smooth implementation and achievement of the project objectives.

Main Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Head of Social Cohesion, Inclusion and Employability, the responsibilities of the Social Inclusion Inclusion Officer include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating the activities carried out by the Apartment Search Ombudsman, the Social Cohesion Ombudsman and the Labour Market Ombudsman, ensuring their alignment with the project objectives.
  • Supervision of the duties of the staff of the Municipality of Larissa, including the HELIOS+ Centre Installation Manager, in order to ensure a coherent and integrated approach to support services for beneficiaries.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and facilitate regular updates on the progress of the project.
  • Identifying and managing issues that arise during the implementation of the project, taking the necessary measures to resolve them.
  • Ensure that all activities meet the required standards and are completed within the required timeframes.
  • Monitoring project progress and identifying potential challenges, implementing mitigation measures to achieve the objectives.
  • Collecting feedback and writing narrative reports on the progress of the project.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Experience:

  • Higher education degree in Social Sciences, Project Management, Administration or related field
  • A relevant postgraduate degree or specialisation in project management will be considered an additional qualification
  • At least two (2) years of experience in project management in the humanitarian sector/NGO
  • Experience in managing social integration programmes for refugees.
  • Certification of implementation of project management systems will be highly appreciated
  • Ability to write reports and analyse data.
  • Previous experience of working with international organisations such as IOM.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with different groups of people.
  • Organisation, coordination and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
  • Excellent written and spoken knowledge of Greek and English
  • Excellent computer skills
