Until today, within the framework of HELIOS project in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration IOMGreece, INTERSOS Hellas maintains its dynamic action and strengthens its efforts aimed at supporting, integration and autonomous living of recognized refugees in Greek society.
INTERSOS Hellas has been active in Greece since 2016 with programs for refugees and migrants. It is currently intervening in Epirus, Thessaly and Lesvos.
INTERSOS Hellas supports the integration of recognized refugees into Greek society, and until October it has helped more than 3,000 Helios beneficiaries to find independent housing in apartments in their name.
Our teams provide, among other things, support through training workshops and interpretation:
- Locating available apartments
- The process of concluding the contract and issuing the required documents
- Communication with the owner
In the context of supporting independent living, the beneficiaries receive a monthly rent subsidy based on specific conditions, while they themselves have the obligation to cover all relevant financial charges.
The Helios program also provides integration courses, employment support, while also monitoring the integration process and raising awareness among host communities.
