The social workers of INTERSOS Hellas who participated in the Conference “Supporting victims of torture on the move: experience, challenges and concerns”, organized by ARSIS – Social Organization for Youth Support, gave their professional attention to the understanding of the specificity of the Victims of Torture.

In particular, INTERSOS Hellas’ professionals elaborated on issues such as the dual nature and coexistence of seemingly opposite concepts such as vulnerability and tolerance, the dynamics that emerge in the interaction for reinterpretation of reality, horizontal field relationships, multiple identities with the self-regulation of thought and emotion, the importance of their own participation in the design and implementation of support programs, and the therapeutic effect of words.

The event took place on Friday, February 28th, from 09:00 a.m. until 16:00 p.m., in the “Manolis Anagnostakis” hall at the City Hall of Thessaloniki, with the support of the Deputy Mayor for Social Policy of the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
