Objective of the employability project

The aim of the project is to support the integration into the labor market of beneficiaries of international protection, temporary protection status holders, and asylum seekers (hereafter “the beneficiaries”) residing in Epirus, specifically in the areas of Katsikas, Agia Eleni, Filippiada and apartments within the broader urban center of Ioannina.

The main objectives of the project activities are to support beneficiaries obtain the tools and relevant resources needed for setting specific work goals; target professional occupations of personal interest and match them according to their profile; help beneficiaries acquire independence and self-reliance to look for an ideal professional occupation; support them to identify vocational training opportunities; support them to access national social solidarity schemes and financial inclusion projects.

Main responsibilities and Program representation tasks:

The main task of the Employability Counselor is to present the program to the beneficiaries of the program and to support them in issues related to job-finding support. In particular, she/he will perform the following:

 

  • Advise and support on employment-related legal issues;
  • Record soft skills and guide the beneficiaries regarding the possibilities of vocational training in the public sector (eg. OAED programs, programs of INE/GSEE), as well as other tools available (eg. “vouchers” for employability, internships, etc.), based on the needs and aspirations of each beneficiary;
  • Provision of guidance services and ensure access to basic vocational training opportunities directed from the very beginning with specific job matching and job creation opportunities;
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of cases to employment, providing professional employability, job matching, and career management service;
  • Provide information, advice and guidance to the beneficiaries on key knowledge areas including; drafting or improving CVs, Job opportunities, interview skills, and preparation
  • Analyze and understand current employment and related opportunities;
  • Maintain a Management system, case notes and other electronic files and records to a high standard to ensure are documented in accordance with quality standards;
  • Provide professional ethics guidance and resume preparation for seminars;
  • Fulfill administrative formalities required for the beneficiaries to access formal employment, such as issuance of AMA, submission of tax declarations, opening Bank Accounts, and addressing bureaucratic obstacles with government agencies;
  • Participation in the organization of events related to the labor market and contact with employers;
  • Inform the beneficiaries about the program in the sites of Epirus;

Other

    • Performs other tasks and duties as required in order to ensure correct implementation of project activities

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Provide regular progress reports to Project Manager.
  • Provide necessary data as requested so as to facilitate external reporting in relation to the attendants and daily informative sessions
  • Compile requested reports for internal and donor use

Past Experience and Skills Required

  • At least 1-year experience in job counseling is required
  • Past experience with vulnerable populations or in the refugee context will be considered an asset
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Humanitarian, Social, Legal, or Finance studies required or other relevant degree
  • Certification in employability counseling would be considered a strong asset
  • A relevant Master’s Degree would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Very good knowledge of the labour market
  • Good knowledge of labour law
  • Fluent in Greek and English both written and verbal
  • Ability to deal with heavy work pressure
  • Computer skills: knowledge of MS Office and competence with data management and data inputs in IT platforms
